Faster-than-light neutrino results were due to a mistake
And not just any mistake. A LOOSE CABLE.
“There was a good reason the measurements and reality weren’t lining up: a loose fiber optic cable was causing one of the atomic clocks used to time the neutrinos’ flight to produce spurious results.”
Awe, that is just sad. I was counting on the faster than light thing to eventually get us off this planet and to a planet where there is intelligent life.
Oh well. They said it was too good to be true, and it was. No FTL for me in this lifetime. I’ll have to get to the moon at normal speed. O.o
This just shows that when we are wrong, we own up to the mistakes and then seek to correct them and produce accurate data.
